Born and raised in Chicago IL, in a neighborhood called “Rogers Park” which is the most northern part of the city, next door to Loyola University and Loyola Beach. I was raised in a fairly strict household, so when I discovered art around the age of 5, it helped me find a creative outlet. Around 15 was when I started to experiment with my hair and makeup looks, and the rest is history!

On a day to day basis, I’m very inspired by hair health and new products. I recently want to a panel discussion where I met Bridgette Hill, a scalp therapist that is also a Trichologist. She had such a pleasant way to share how scalp health is so key to internal health; she broke it down for us! I love when clients have that “a-ha!” moment during our conversations; I love when I am able to help people come to an understanding on how to care for their hair. I can also get very stuck on working with my usual favorite products, so it helps to learn about new products so I can be a more knowledgeable stylist overall and achieve the same or similar results with something new.

I also create acrylic and watercolor paintings, it was my first passion when I was a kid. I was most active painting during the pandemic but I still paint from time to time. I also just got back into rock climbing again, I was heavy into it when I lived in Chicago but I finally found a new place in Brooklyn that I just joined. I love to keep my hands busy either way and stay active when I can.

What I love the most about being a stylist is I’m always a student; I learn something new after every single cut and I carry it with me to be a better stylist and a better person day to day. I also love to see the relief I can bring to someone after a successful haircut. I also love that a client can speak on an idea and I can slowly bring it to life, it makes me feel alive when the person in my chair feels at ease with the final result.

I really love seeing vivid colors on the streets, it’s so striking! For cuts, I love seeing curls with really severe, sharp lines. Seeing sleek silhouettes on massive curly hair is so iconic! I love watching stylists like Mona Cuts and Curling Me Crazy, they showed me what is possible with tweaking curls here and there. I also visually love looking at fashion shows and photoshoots, I love seeing colors and textures brought out in pure creativity; it’s fun to watch!

I am very in love with CUTS!! I am very confident with any curl pattern from wavy, to curly to coily. I really love when I am able to help people fall in love with their curls, especially after growing up in the 90’s seeing mostly straight hair styles on celebs. One of the first people I saw rocking their curls was Scary Spice from Spice Girls and J.Lo when she was a dancer. That little tiny spark of representation on tv made me want to not only explore my own curls, but help educate other people to understand and fall in love with their curls too!
I am also fascinated yet scared of color, I had a few mishaps from time to time that made me pause on continuing, but the times when I got it right, I was over the moon!!
